WATERSHED: Proctor Creek Watershed

Addressing Stormwater Runoff through Community-Driven Green Infrastructure Projects n the Headwaters of Proctor Creek

The Conservation Fund is working collaboratively with a large number of community organizations to improve environmental outcomes in Atlanta’s Proctor Creek communities. Since 2011, the Fund has been identifying opportunities for creating green space that manages stormwater flooding, reduces pollution, and serves as a catalyst for the revitalization of some of the most underserved neighborhoods in the city of Atlanta.

In 2015, we completed Lindsay Street Park, which was awarded the EPA Rain Catcher Award and the American Planning Association’s Excellence in Sustainability Award. Working with our partners, Park Pride, an Atlanta based nonprofit, we celebrated the opening of Vine City Park in 2016. Building on these successes, funding from EPA will support community engagement activities for the visioning of Boone Park West, the next green infrastructure project identified in the community- driven Proctor North Avenue Vision Plan, produced by our partners Park Pride and supported by the City of Atlanta Parks Department, Watershed Management and Office of Resiliency.
