Through a community driven effort, this University of Tennessee project will aim to collect new nutrient data across the watershed that will aid the city of Knoxville and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation in developing a watershed restoration strategy. By engaging local middle school students, knowledge of water quality degradation due to urban runoff will spread through the area. These activities will be supported by efforts to bring together the city of Knoxville and non-profit organizations to establish a framework for collaboration among Baker Creek stakeholders.
